The following comprise selected matters in which Kah Hui or the Firm has featured, and have either not previously been covered under Malaysian case law or were significant in terms of media impact or quantum of deal concerned:

Advising and representing legal professionals under professional indemnity insurance with respect to a claim for alleged negligence in IPO work.

Advising and representing (as part of a team of counsel, and lead solicitor’s role) in a series of high-profile environmental law disputes instituted against a rare earth oxides plant.

Representation (as part of a team of counsel, and lead solicitor’s role) of the Terengganu Royal house as to a succession dispute.

Advising and representing one of four Special Purpose Acquisition Company (oil and gas) in Malaysia, with respect to winding up of the entity.

Advising a fortune 500 company, on employment issues pertaining to an acquisition of business and plant in Penang, Malaysia.


Advising and representing one of the world’s largest publicly traded P&C insurance companies, with respect to reinsurance claims pertaining to facultative reinsurance policies and enforcement of treaty reinsurance arbitral award, and contesting as lead, the restructuring of the debtor insurer.

Advising and representing directors of a public listed company, as to alleged minority oppression and breach of newly introduced provisions of the companies act 2016, in respect of proposed business merger. This culminated in a decision reached by the Federal Court (in which the firm's principal submitted as one of the lead counsel for the matter), which provided clarification on critical areas of law and or provisions on which there had been no apex court decision pertaining to: s. 85, s. 123, s. 127, s. 223 and s. 582 of the Companies Act 2016

Advising and representation of an air cargo carrier against the claim of its former senior management, resulting in a  landmark decision that restricts the Director General of the Labor Department making orders such as to intervene in any dispute that is already before the Industrial Court.
